2001 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit. Considering this as a first bike. A guy I work with is selling his. It's a 2001 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit with 8,500. It has a windscreen and saddle bags. He says all it needs is an oil change, he hasn't done it only because he bought a new bike. He wants $2,000 for it.
honda shadow 750 vs harley sportster 883. now I'm helping my buddy get his bike on the road, and we got into an argument of "who's faster". He's got a stock '85 750cc honda shadow, and I have a 2009 harley davidson 883cc sportster, with intanke, good exhaust (a 2-1 with a larger higher flow muffler as opposed to typical harley 2-2 noisemakers
I have been looking for a starter bike and found a 1996 Honda Shadow Ace 1100 - 19K miles - for $2500. Its a pretty sweet looking bike but I was wondering if it would be a good starter bike. I am 6 foot 200 lbs. Would love anyones/everyones input. Thanks. Here is the bike:

I bought the Vulcan 900 custom as my first bike. I liked the narrow front wheel and how it handled at slower speeds. It felt wider than the Honda so it has the feel of a full size cruiser. The motor isn't huge but it's got some good torque in the low gears - I've taken it through the mountains without much issue.
This bike really surprised me. It was easier to ride than the 250 bikes they had on the MSF course. I recommend this as a starter bike for larger people. I wanted the 600 but was afraid that I might want to upgrade later and boy, am I happy I got the 750. It has good power for freeway driving but the power is totally controllable.
0a8iaB. Born out of the old 250 Rebels, which are still good beginner bikes and cheap if you can find a decent one, you can get A Honda Shadow 600 for anywhere from $500 to $4000. The latter is
That gives the liquid-cooled Shadow good gas mileage and impressive performance for a 745cc motor. The retro designation comes from wire-spoked wheels, twin shocks, and a drum rear brake.
158. Like you Dude, I am a Yamaha man when it comes to bikes, but the virago, is not a great bike. Like was said before the starter is crap and causes all kinds of bad electrical issues. Stick with the Honda. If you are looking for a cruiser the Honda Shadow is a great model and the prices now are cheap for everything.
Honda makes great bikes. They have a good torque / hp / acceleration balance where you can cruise along or cram the throttle and it'll respond accordingly. 750s will do fine about 60-70mph on highway and shadows are fairly nimble to get you thru the back roads.. Personal experience; 750 didn't last me long but they're great "learners bikes".

Via: Honda. At the core of the Honda Shadow 750 is a powerful engine. The V-twin engine configuration delivers 745cc of displacement. Motorcycle riding is already nerve-wracking, and the last thing a beginner wants is a bike so powerful that it feels uncontrollable.
is a honda shadow 750 a good starter bike
